Free Construction Lead Secrets
73These days a contractor can never be too careful with his money. When you combine the fact that there’s less work to go around with the fact that homeowners now expect lower prices it creates a situation of panic for many business owners. After all, if you’re barely able to pay your employees and keep up with other financial obligations then how are you ever going to be able to pay for leads that will bring in new work? I must tell you, though, that this is no time to lose your head. In fact, this is a time for ingenuity and creativity. By expanding your marketing skill set to include the internet you can begin to land a boatload of free leads. What follows are a few secrets and tricks that your competitors probably don’t know about (yet).
First and foremost, you need to get on the blogging train as soon as possible. You might think this idea sounds ridiculous, but I must tell you that the blog I started for my business probably sends us at least one free construction lead every single day, 365 days a year. Think about that for a second. If I had purchased these leads on the open market they would have run me about 20 dollars each. 20 times 365 is 7300. So I save over $7000 every year simply by having and maintaining a free blog for my company. The numbers are simply staggering.
It’s really not that difficult, either. Just get a free blog at blogger.com and start writing. I try to write a new post at least once a week but the more the merrier. The articles could be about anything related to your business. Let’s say you run a roofing business. You could write posts about the different kinds of roof materials, how long roofs typically last, what can be done to maintain a roof and maximize its lifespan, how to know a qualified roofer from somebody who just walked off the street, etc. The possibilities are endless. Just make sure to drop your city’s name into each article at least once and you’ll start pulling in all kinds of local traffic via the search engines. If you’re in a high-demand industry that sees a lot of search volume your traffic could be off the charts. Why is this important? Because traffic equals leads. Lots and lots of leads. Make sure your phone number is in huge, fat font at the top of the blog for all to see. If you haven’t tried this idea yet then you better get on it because it won’t be a secret for too much longer.
Here’s another tip for getting a bunch of free construction leads – create a few home videos and post them on YouTube. Don’t laugh – this one can open the floodgates when it comes to nailing new business. Come up with a few clever ideas for your own homemade “commercials”, pull out the old video camera, and film away! You don’t have to be a film genius or anything, just try to make it funny and informative. Tell a little about your business but make it unique enough that people would want to forward it on to their friends. If you can get one of the videos to go “viral” then it can really light up your phone line like you wouldn’t believe. Sure, your local competitors might insult you and think your videos are silly, but you’ll be the one laughing all the way to the bank because of all the free contractor leads it brought in.
The bottom line here is that you’ve got to start using the internet if you want to have any chance of scoring no-cost leads. By leveraging the web you can not only save a ton of money but also leave you less-than-technically-inclined competitors in the dust. Either you can start exploring all the internet has to offer or you can keep paying outrageous sums of money to lead generation companies. The choice is yours.
